Indian Air Force Recruitment 2025: 340 Commissioned Officer Posts Announced

The Indian Air Force (IAF) has announced a new recruitment drive for the year 2025. The force will recruit 340 Commissioned Officers through the Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT). The notification has been released on the official AFCAT website.
Eligible candidates can apply online within the given dates. The recruitment is open for Flying Branch and Ground Duty branches, including both Technical and Non-Technical roles.
Vacancy Details
According to the notification, a total of 340 posts are available. These include:
Flying Branch: 38 posts
Ground Duty (Technical): 188 posts
Ground Duty (Non-Technical): 114 posts
The final number of vacancies may change based on the requirements of the Indian Air Force.
Eligibility Criteria
For the Flying Branch, candidates must have studied Physics and Mathematics in Class 12 or must hold a BE/B.Tech degree. The age limit for this branch is 20 to 24 years. Candidates with a valid commercial pilot licence may get age relaxation up to 26 years.
For Ground Duty (Technical) posts, applicants must have a BE/B.Tech degree in the required engineering field. The age limit is 20 to 26 years.
For Ground Duty (Non-Technical) posts, candidates should have a graduate or postgraduate degree in the relevant subject. The age limit is also 20 to 26 years.
Age relaxation will be given as per government rules.
Important Dates
The online application process started on 17 November 2025.
The last date to apply is 19 December 2025.
The AFCAT written examination is expected to be held on 31 January 2026.

Selection Process
The selection process includes several stages.
First, candidates will appear for the AFCAT written examination.
Those who qualify will be called for the Air Force Selection Board (AFSB) interview.
The AFSB process includes screening tests, interviews, and medical examinations.
The final merit list will be prepared based on overall performance.
Application Fee
Candidates applying through AFCAT entry must pay an application fee of ₹550 plus GST.
There is no application fee for candidates applying through the NCC Special Entry.
Salary and Benefits
Selected candidates will be appointed as Commissioned Officers in the Indian Air Force.
The starting salary will be as per the 7th Pay Commission, beginning at around ₹56,100 per month.
Officers will also receive other benefits such as allowances, medical facilities, housing, and leave benefits.
